“I do not at all understand the mystery of grace - only that it meets us where we are but does not leave us where it found us.” -Anne Lamott

Did you hear the one about the Presbyterian and the Methodist?

Usually that's a great opening line for a joke, but in our case it's really how our story begins.

In 2005, 2 Churches, Grace Presbyterian Church, and Bell Road Methodist Church, both unanimously voted to become one church.  Some people may think that sounds like a recipe for disaster or a future laugh but when God is at the center of your plans what could be a joke to some becomes yet another reason to praise Him.

Grace Presbyterian was a fairly young church that was still in the planting phase meeting in a local business park.  Bell Road Methodist was built by its members on the corner of Bell Road and Atlanta Highway nearly 60 years earlier.  Their congregation had begun to age and dwindle but instead of selling their campus to a gas station and strip mall they looked for a way to revitalize their calling to minister to that area of Montgomery.

I know it sounds cliche but after a few months of planning and courting everyone realized the two congregations were a match made in heaven. God had his hand upon us - as He has made us one church body. There are no divisions here & there is one agenda: Love Jesus more & make Him known more. This work of the Lord astounds many to think that 2 different churches, of different backgrounds, could come together. Count our members as part of that group. We give all glory to God for what He has done, what He is doing, and what He will do in the future.

Our name represents the coming together of 2 churches, but it also represents who we are: a people of Grace. There is little doubt that you will find grace @ At Grace @ Bell Road. None of us are worthy, but we know the One who is worthy of all of our praises.

Come and join us in our journey of exploring God's Grace @ Bell Road.
